Go see a psychologist before you blow up. Lol

Just kidding.

Single or DOHC? It's fairly common for the ticking noise on the Eclipse. Everyone swears it's the lifters, and it very well could be, but I have never run across anyone with noisy lifter suffer an engine failure because of it. It's just annoying. Are you sure it's not the injectors, because some injectors over time will become rather noisy.
If you had a stethoscope (automotive with a hard line on the end), you could actually pinpoint the noise better. You could determine if it's a lifter or injector, and probably even determine which, if not all, of the lifters are making the most noise. Usually a "tick" would be isolated to just one or two parts and not all of them.
You can buy the stethoscope pretty cheap and it's a very handy tool to own.

Part #LIS52500 at Advance Auto. $18
