Post subject: | 2.2 ecotec advanced timing |
hey guys i was reading around the interenet today and i read on a different forum that some guys were advancing their timing about 5-10 degrees on a few different motors like 2.2 four cylinders and some 6 cylinders and it was doing alot for power and gas efficiency. i have an 04 sunfire with the 2.2 ecotec motor and i was thinking about advancing the timing, have any of you guys done this or have any opinions. i hope you do! post away! thanks alot guys! chris |

How do you advance the timing on a DIS car besides a re-flash or program ?? |

are you hijacking my thread? haha what do you mean DIS?? with the ecotec its chain and sprocket to adjust the timing. im wondering how far to advance the timing. how retarded is the stock timing. i've found the rule of thumb is 1 tooth on the sprocket is 4 degrees of timing. i was thinking about going 2 teeth or 8 degrees..... |

Whats DIS ?? Distributorless Ignition System == Computor sets ignition timing !! You are talking about advancing the cams, which on an Eco 2.2 will probably bend valves. 1 tooth doesn't = 4 degrees on any motor, don't know of any cam gears w/ 90 teeth. Good Luck |
