 Post subject: Help about vapor lock

My car it turboed cavalier it runs at 195 never higher and u can drive for about 5 mins in 90+ weather and it just shuts off no studdering or anything it will crank but wont start like it has no gas and it melted the rubber connection for my air intake on my turbo any suggestions on how to coll it down or make it run in the hot weather?

Sounds like it could be a bad ignition module.

When the heat builds up the modules start breaking up.

Next time it shuts off check for spark at one of the plug wires. If it dosent have spark then I would have the ign module checked out. Autozone and other parts places will test it for free.

I already replaced the igntion module it gets spark

Well if it has spark then id agree it may be running out of gas. have you tried pulling codes out of the eec?

I assume its fuel injected.

Do you have a place on the fuel rail to check the fuel pressure?

I had a fuel pump going bad in my mustang before. It would start and idle but if you got on the gas it would sputter and die ,The pump couldnt keep up with the demand,
Maybe the pump is getting hot and shutting down..??

it has a fuel pressure regulaor on the fuel rail

regulater is fine but does it have a guage so you can see if the fuel press in psi?
